Namibia and Zimbabwe
Day 1: Arrival in Johannesburg. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Flight to Windhoek. Visit of the town and overnight stay.
Day 3: Drive to the Kalahari Desert via the small town of Rehoboth before arriving at the border of the Kalahari Desert. Estimated arrival at the lodge in time for lunch. In the late afternoon, photographic safari in the desert to see the first dunes. Overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive to the Namib Desert area via the town of Mariental to reach the Namib Desert. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 5: Day trip to the sandy dunes of Sossusvlei beautifully coloured and among the highest in the world. Afternoon visit to the Sesriem Canyon. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 6: Drive to the coast. Reach the Atlantic Ocean at Walvis Bay where one can visit the lagoon which is home to many species of birds, seals, dolphins and gannets. The journey then continues to Swakopmund. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Visit to the Moon Valley. A walking itinerary takes one closer to the Welwitschia Mirabilis, extraordinary plants that according to recent studies can live up to 2000 years. Free afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8: Drive to the Damaraland Desert. Arrival at Twyfelfontein, an area full of rock carvings attributed to the Bushmen. The large rocks on which they were made have strange shapes (the most famous is the mouth of the dragon) and become red at sunset. The journey proceeds to reach the geological formation called the ‘Organ Pipe’ and the Burnt mountain to see, hidden in its caves, several famous rock paintings including the ‘White lady’, which is one of the most beautiful paintings in Africa. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 9: Drive to the Kaokoland. Along the road one comes across the Himba with their unique hairstyles and traditions. Visit of some traditional villages. Arrival at Opuwo. Overnight stay.
Day 10: Day spent visiting other traditional Himba villages to observe and appreciate their lifestyle. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 11: Drive to Etosha Park. Arrival at the Okaukuejo Rest Camp. During the journey one can already see various species of animals including wild cats, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, antelopes, fowls, and many other birds species. Overnight stay in an equipped camp.
Day 12: Full day photographic safari in the park. Overnight stay in the camp.
Day 13: Full day visit in the Etosha National Park: safari to the Namutoni Rest Camp.
Day 14: Drive north towards the Caprivi area via Namutoni,Tsumeb and Grootfontein where one can visit the Hoba meteorite. Then proceed to Bagani and the Popa Falls. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Days 15/16: Visit of Caprivi Game Park located in the north of the Okavango Delta. There are various species of animals in the park including elephants, antelopes and many birds species. Overnight stay.
Days 17/18: Drive to the Chobe Park in Botswana. Overnight stay at a lodge on the banks of the river. Safari by 4-wheel drive, boat and on foot. The park is famous for it numerous herds of elephants, lions and buffalos.
Day 19: Drive to the Victoria Falls in neighbouring Zimbabwe. Overnight stay at Victoria Falls. Visit of the Falls, that are located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The waterfalls of the Zambesi river drop about 100 meters and are spectacular and unique site.
Day 20: Day available for various activities such as excursions on the Zambesi river, rafting, scenic flights above the falls. Overnight stay.
Day 21: Transfer to the airport. Flight to Johannesburg then connecting flight to Italy.
